A Little Dizzy & Membership has its Privileges

I have had a little battle with vertigo since I've been back from my trip.  I apologize for the lack of posts and pictures.  I feel like it's getting a little better and feel as if I'll have a handle on it soon.  It's hard to feel effective when you feel as if you are on a swaying boat.  It does make me more tired, as if I'm being rocked to sleep 24-7.  But vertigo can't stop us from thanking our loyal supporters and fans!  So, Well Worn would like to thank our followers and future followers with our first coupon.  The coupon is good for August 1-15 in either of our two booths located at 8th & Main Antiques in Chico, CA.  If you live nearby, please sign up as a follower and shop.  We want to let you know that we are so grateful for your support!  The coupon is good for any thing you would like to purchase and as many things you would like to purchase as many days as you'd like to use it.  Basically 15% off for 15 days on anything in the Well Worn spaces.  We ask that you not share your coupon, but that instead you ask your family/friends to become a follower so that they can receive their own coupon.  We look forward to any comments you'd like to share and would love to hear what treasure you found in our humble little booth(s).

I'll leave you with a couple of pictures that I took the other day at Well Worn.
Joy to you!
Melony

Well Worn is Worn Out!

Whew!  I'm back.  Although I had the time of my life, shopping, laughing and eating WAY (should I say WEIGH?) too many Tasty Cakes, it's so good to be back.  I thoroughly enjoyed Pennsylvania, loved the scenery and met such fabulous people.  However, the humidity I could do without.  There was one day at Saylorsburg that I knew I must have looked like I had just left a water park (fully clothed).  There will be no pictures of that day.  It was just too stinkin' hot to do anything extra; like click the button on the camera.  I'm looking forward to sharing a couple of the fun finds that we came across.  Some of them are already in our booth at Well Worn.  A little more news on the Well Worn front...We are expanding.  Well Worn is currently located on the second floor of 8th & Main Antiques in Chico CA  http://www.facebook.com/pages/Eighth-Main-Antique-Center/121161784567401.  We have a good size booth directly to the left of the staircase.  We are adding a smaller booth in the "back building" that will feature mostly furniture.  There will be fresh and funky accessories in the "back" booth as well.  We will officially be in the back as of August 1st, so come on by and check it out.  I am looking forward to sharing some pictures of the progress from the beginning.  I can't say from start to finish, because our booth is never "finished".  Our vignettes and displays are always in the state of flux as we move things in and out.  For some this would be the frustrating part of Well Worn, for me it is the best part.

A little housekeeping. The followers feature was experiencing technical difficulties, so please try again.  Should you run into problems or it is just a big pain, please contact us so we can look into it.  We appreciate our followers so much!  Thanks so much for your support we can't convey how much it means to us.

I added two quick shots from the booth, they are not the best quality, but they are the best I have at this time.

Sure, Sure, Shopping and Shoe Forms

We've been so busy on this trip! Shopping and then shopping, and oh, a little more shopping. If the Hubbs is reading this, shopping doesn't necessarily mean BUYING. If he's not, well it doesn't necessarily mean NOT buying. Anyway, since we've been so busy and I haven't taken many pictures due to some technical problems, I thought I'd just post a picture from the booth. When I get back there will be so much to share. I'm just on sensory overload at the moment, so it will take a while to process everything so that I can share in a more organized manner.  I have a hard enough time staying on track and struggle to write with a smidge of coherence, so it is best that I rest up before I blab.  But, I do have to write about one thing I enjoy...When you speak with someone around here it's so great when they let you know that they're listening to you with the affirmative sure, sure.  The best part is the way that they say it.  It sounds like shoe-a, shoe-a.
I. LOVE. IT.  I'm so going to let my friends on the west coast know that I'm listening with a
"shoe-a, shoe-a" when I get home.

I have a thing for wood shoe forms.  Well Worn has a few, some even have pointy toes. I kept a pair that say "pip" on the side. I'm a sucker for any type of typography, graphics or numbers. These shoe forms have all of the above. I've seen a few of the folding rulers made into stars in blog land, however the stars are usually folded a little differently. I like to fold mine the same way I would draw a star. Which do you prefer?

Boy Scouts and Bus Stops

Worn Well has been on the antique chase for items for our booth at Well Worn.  (Confusing I know, I may write about it someday.)  My cousin and I have been searching high and low in the beautiful state of Pennsylvania.  We have met some wonderful people along the way.  We found some fun vintage items at the Boy Scouts rummage sale and even received curbside service.  I wish I could take a Boy Scout along to all of my "picks" they are so helpful and polite.  Maybe I should contact the Boy Scouts and see if I can have the boys earn a "picken" badge.  I think part of the process would be to help crazy antique dealers load up their vehicle and to teach the dealer the correct way to tie knots and such, so they don't quite look like the Beverly Hillbillies as they transport their wares around town.  I think I would have to get used to being called ma'am, but it would be a fair trade.  It was a treat to have someone carry my treasures out to the car and open the door for us and even say "thank you."  What a fine bunch!  We drove an hour or so to a yard sale that advertised vintage and antique items.  We met two fun ladies who directed us to go to the Bus Stop Flea Market; but only after we had shopped their yard sale. I guess we looked like we would drop our vintage luggage and go running to the Bus Stop if they made it sound too good.  Betty and Ellen were so helpful and gave us some insider information about places to shop.  Once we made it to the Bus Stop Flea, we met two more adorable ladies, Judy and  Charlotte.  The girls really took care of us, getting prices, making sure that all our items were taken to the front so that our hands were free to buy more....hmm.  Charlotte is a woman who knows her priorities.  She made sure I knew where to go to purchase the all important ice cream sandwich; hey, I am on vacation.  If you're in the area, I would recommend that you check out the Bus Stop Flea and shop around.  Since it's a Flea Market there is a wide variety of items, from tube socks to a horse drawn carriage.  Once we finished shopping, we came home for a little breather.  After the short rest it was to Mama Nina's http://www.mamanina.com/ for a divine dinner. I am shopped out, worn out and carbed out.  It was a great day.
Breathe,
Melony

Thanks a lot Underwear Bomber

The fear of flying is a major concern for many travelers, including some of my good friends.  For me the fear of flying was never an issue, until now.  Now I have to worry about being searched by TSA...Seriously, this kept me awake for a little while last night.  The questions that ran through my head were those somewhat like those that ran through my head many years ago when I went on first dates.  What do I wear?  What shoes will work the best?  What about my hair?  Yes, the hair thing.  If you've been following the news, recently TSA was under fire for checking a woman's hair.  The big hair thing shouldn't be a problem for me on the trip from home, it's not too humid here.  But the return back?  There could be problems.  High humidity makes for very big hair in my world.  Also, like a first date, what will they expect from me?  If I show up with my overnight bag will I send the wrong message?  Then there is the problem of being on the FBI watch list.  I realized all too late that it was probably an unfortunate choice of words to refer to my cousin as I did it my last post.  I won't use the word, since that will make it appear three times in as many posts.  Yes, the word I used in my heading for this post.  I waffled, and then thought, oh, well, I'm probably already on "the list" so just do it.  So fear of flying gets another wrinkle.

Anticipation is a Good Thing

I'm anticipating an upcoming trip.  I'm going to visit my cousin in Pennsylvania.  I can't wait to see her! We always have a good time when we get together.  Sometimes I would say almost too good of a time if you know what I mean.  My cousin is "da bomb".  I know that she is probably spending too much time trying to make sure that my trip is going to be fun, and that's why I love her.  One of the things on our itinerary is a trip to New York to go to Tinsel Trading Co.http://www.tinseltrading.com/index.php  I have been wanting to visit this store for about two years now.  It is the mecca of all things crafty and glittery.  They have fab-u-lous over the top window displays and I can hardly wait.  Of course I will be on the antique chase and looking for new things to put in my booth at Well Worn.  I hope to find some east coast items for my west coast customers.  Let's just say I'll be packing lightly when I leave California, I can't say if that will hold true for the return trip.  I hope to have lots of fun pictures to share with you.
What are you anticipating?

Just Like Laura's Curtains

Sometimes it takes me a while to get "around to it".  Flash back to New Year's 2009.  One of my resolutions was to start a blog.  I don't go overboard with my resolutions, I gave myself until (the end of) 2010 to accomplish the goal.  I know myself and I know that I'm not the most computer savvy person around.  I also know that I'm generally a busy person.  I wanted my blog to be a fun experience for both my readers and myself.  So, I accomplished the resolution and started the blog in May of 2010.  However, that's all I did.  Not. One. Single. Post.  I know, pathetic.  It's now over a year later and I am finally writing and publishing my first post.  Baby steps friends, but steps non the less.  I'm excited to share with you some of my "adventures and antics" as I look for fun vintage and antique items, do some furniture make overs, and quite possibly throw some stamping in as well.  I hope that those that read will read happy and leave inspired.  I know, lofty goals, but I may reach them once in a while, say in a year?

You may wonder what Laura's curtains have to do with starting a blog...my good friend Laura told me today that she has been planning on hemming her kitchen curtains since last summer.  Well girl, I finally got around to it, so I challenge you to hem those curtains.  What have you been putting off?

Be Happy Today,
Melony
